So, I have been really addicted to series' lately. Yes, that is series, plural. I am in the middle of three series and I just finished a fourth one. I love series books. I am not sure where that love came from. Maybe, it goes all the way back to my love of
Baby-Sitters Club books or
Goosebumps. I also loved
Choose Your Own Adventure books. Nonetheless, I love series books. If the book comes in a series, I am immediately intrigued. This is probably why I am in the middle of three series and I just finished a fourth.

Let's start with the one I just finished. From my last post, you all have probably gathered that I love the
Maze Runner series. Well, I just finished the last book
The Death Cure. This book was an interesting end to the series. It continues along the path well, but I felt that it really ended horribly. Maybe Dashner is planning on coming out with another (hint, hint, Dashner, if you're reading this :)). I wasn't a big fan of the ending but I thought that, overall, it was a great conclusion to the series. I stand firm on my belief that you should read this series if you liked
The Hunger Games series.

OK, so the next series I have finally picked back up is
The 39 Clues series. I know, it's been forever since I've talked about that series! I hadn't been able to get the next book in the series because it was always absent from the library. Well, I just learned about this wonderful service the library offers where you request a book online and they will get the book (even from another library in their system) and place it on hold until you come pick it up. I know, I am probably ages behind on this one, but I am in love. I have been placing books on hold left and right lately and have been able to continue on with a lot of my series lately. OK, so back to
The 39 Clues. When I last left of, the children had ended their hunt and found out they were a part of one of the families the other four branches didn't know existed. The next book in the series,
Vespers Rising, gives a through background on the original family
and how the Vespers came about. This book is a great transition book before the children jump back into a hunt to save the entire Cahill family. I just picked up the next book in the series, but I haven't started it yet so I will fill you in on that one next time.

The next series that I want to tell you all about is the Secret series. The first book is called
The Name of This Book is Secret and is written by Pseudonymous Bosch. This is another series that is written for a younger crowd, but for all my fellow teachers out there, I read them so I have some literary weapons to give to my students. I like to read these books so that not only can I recommend them, but then I can talk to the students about them and engage them in literary conversations. Anyway, I have read the aforementioned first book and the second book,
If You're Reading This, It's Too Late. Both books have been excellent. My sister is the one who turned me on to this series and I am passing the second book on to her. It is great to have a reading buddy to discuss what is going on and how they liked it. For example, she says that she didn't like the ending of the first book, whereas I liked it. I think the book really keeps the reader thinking and guessing and I love them. Great series and I can't wait to read the next one!

The last series is one that I am still iffy about. I read the first book,
The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart. The first book was good, so I went ahead and picked up the second book in the series. About this time is when I discovered the beauty of the hold option and I ended up getting four other books at once. I decided to return the second book of this series and read the others. The fact that I didn't want to continue reading the book, should show something. They are good, but not amazing. I want to read the whole series, but after I finish the others. The first book is about an old man who recruits very smart children for his society to become spies at an institute that we later find out is run by Mr. Benedict's twin brother. A lot of secrets are found out in the book and it was good. The next book illustrates the children's journey continuing with the society and what that entails. I want to read the next book and I will let you guys know what becomes of that.
Well, there is my plethora of series that I am currently addicted to. I hope you enjoyed this latest installment and I will keep you updated as I continue on this reading journey!
